Recently I've been diggin' Turn on the Bright Lights by Interpol, so when I opened up Hello Phones' SoundCloud today I was excited to hear that the first song "Drip" carried a lot of the same resemblance. In a similar post-punkish fashion, "Drip" includes a lot of similar liquidy, emotional guitar rhythms. They almost appear to glide under like velvet, yet also manage to incorporate a bit of a bite. Hearing this first, I was surprised at the diversity Hello Phones is able to accomplish; upon listening to other songs from their debut album Get It Together I could see their palette extends much deeper. "Fantastico" is a homage to '80s synth ballads and "Aquarium" is a very rock-oriented jam that mixes in touches of electronica. The accumulation of everything is a very interesting mix and strangely addicting. I have posted "Drip" below, but if you're interested in hearing everything else you can take a visit to their SoundCloud or Bandcamp. Also, on May 7th they're playing a show in Brooklyn at the Glasslands Gallery. If you're in the area and haven't been to the venue, it's a real neat place, so if you can try and hit them up!
